Surprise! When Government Makes Sense

Show Summary: North Dakota is a state that understands people need natural resources. They went through a lot of growing pains with the fracking boom. Just imagine: a state that actually has a budget surplus. Hear how they are are using their success to plan for the future—and some surprising developments in working with some environmental groups that may provide a blueprint for Oregon. Also, Trump is making deals on DACA and the border. What do people on the border, who see the negative impacts of illegal immigration think about the deals?

A State that Actually USES its Natural Resources?

About five years ago I Spy jealously watched states whose government was working for the people — especially considering the mess Oregon was in: implementing Obamacare, the CCO’s, PERS, and other devastating public costs, while ignoring an obvious source of revenue. Timber.  So, we wanted to see what other states were doing to succeed, and how they were keeping their state in the black.

We were fortunate to have our research come upon Vicky Steiner, who was at that time working in the oil industry, as North Dakota was experiencing a real economic boom.  Vicky told us about the fast-paced growth spurt they were experiencing and what the state’s leadership was doing to improve their state’s future by providing important infrastructure and designing a savings plan that tucked away millions in the state coffers should there be a downturn.

Now, five years later, we have Vicky Steiner back to update us on where they are as a state and how using their natural resources has paid off.  Due to their careful planning, North Dakota has weathered the downturn when the oil prices dropped and production slowed.  Under President Trump and the U.S. actually exporting oil, along with prices rising, Vicky discusses how they are now expanding their oil fields but have become so much more efficient in their production because they invested in new and better technologies.

Meanwhile, Oregon’s Congressional representatives are asking Ryan Zinke not to allow drilling off of Oregon’s coast.

Sigh.

A Surprise for Everyone

Not only did they use their success to develop better, more efficient production techniques, they also built partnerships with responsible environmental groups who helped to ensure oil production was friendly to their treasured land.  Something that Oregon’s vast forest, that burn or rot because they are not managed and logged, could benefit from its own legislative leadership.

Could what they have learned be a roadmap for Oregon to begin using their own natural resources?

Illegal Immigration

Two brand new illegals
Two brand new illegals. Notice how clean and well-dressed these Hondurans are. All ready for their new (illegal) lives in America

Then we go south to San Diego and welcome border security activist and retired Master Sergeant, Jeff Schwilk.  Jeff has strong and great insights into what is currently occurring on the border.  He describes his experiences of what happens in communities near a border that brings illegal immigrants into their communities — and into their local voting booths.

Jeff discusses what he’s recently seen and some of the gaps on the border wall/fence during his tour with a border security team. Jeff tells us his thoughts on President Trump’s recent position on DACA and explains what he feels needs to happen to get to a workable final deal as he offers his ideas and what his anti-amnesty colleagues are pushing for.  These are important insights from people who live smack in the middle of the immigration issues that you won’t want to miss.

Illegal immigrant invaders
From Jeff’s email — to us, these are clearly illegal immigrant invaders

They don’t want DACA, they don’t want a “deal”, they want our country!  They are demanding that we leave our borders wide open for all their relatives to sneak in.  (see attached recent photo and new email from them below).  They have now taken over the entire Democrat party who is terrified to stand up to them.  Now they have their sights set on weak-kneed and open border Republicans, of which there are far too many, through their increasing demands and hostile actions.

They meet the very definition of foreign terrorists or insurgents on our soil.  The enemy within.  The Reconquista is real and these foreign aliens can taste it, not just in California where they have have nearly taken over state and many local governments, but now they want the whole U.S. for their “raza” and revenge against America.

No DACA, no Dream Act, no amnesty.  Enforce our Laws and Secure our Homeland first!

This Week: Big government will always become corrupt. Statistically speaking, it’s impossible not to be corrupt, given the flawed nature of human beings. But even by Big Government standards, the FBI corruption is almost unimaginable.

I Spy’s tag line, Keeping an Eye on Big Government, was chosen because we see big government as the root of the problems with America—and the quintessential roadblock to prosperity and freedom. Too many bureaucrats unanswerable to the public; policies and laws that stand in the face of liberty. But a big government also provides “safe spaces” for those who want to hide and secretly corrupt the system.  We’re watching that live and up close as secretive and hidden tweets reach daylight or frightened whistleblowers come forward to provide breathtaking glimpses into the world of corruption.

Men and women who work in law enforcement agencies like the FBI and DOJ, depend upon one another to protect their backs as they go out to fight the good fight of protecting the citizenry and our Constitution.  Then there are the bad actors, the elites and insiders who have different rules to live by.  But the consequences of the power hungry endanger us all.

That’s what we as a nation are facing right now as the unmasking of real corruption continues.

Our guest this week, attorney and author David T. Hardy has seen agencies go after and destroy good people.  His book, I’m from the Government and I’m Here to Kill You: The True Human Cost of Official Negligence perfectly ties in with what we have experienced with the IRS and Lois Lerner—and now the FBI and DOJ.

Mr. Hardy, who spent ten years in the Dept. of Interior and twenty years studying how government becomes corrupted, focuses on the damage these rogue agents are doing on the very agencies we used to trust. He describes the culture in these law enforcement agencies and how trained personnel, who are highly sophisticated sleuths, keep an eye on those who want to be whistleblowers.

This week we explore whether Jeff Sessions has been compromised and the evidence that might indicate he has. But could there be other reasons for his silence? We look at the poison of the FBI and how it’s spreading to other agencies, the effect on public trust and on the Justice System itself. We talk the missing-now-found FBI texts, the “secret society” and a different take on the “insurance policy.”

There are answers to solving the corruption but getting to those solution will not be an easy road. Listen this weekend to find out what government needs to do to clean up these problems—and when you hear what we’re up against, you’ll be more thankful than ever that Hillary didn’t win.

The One Simple Question Republicans Need to Ask about Tax Reform

Show Summary: This week’s show is all about tax reform. Yeah, we know. You think that’s boring. But the fight over tax reform is really about the fight for the soul of America. We talk with Jonathan Williams of ALEC to get to the truth a dose of reality about the good, bad, and ugly about the Republican tax reform plan. And it really comes down to one simple question we all should ask.

As Trump supporters we’ve been anticipating the swamp will try anything to stop President Trump’s attempts to reform Washington and drain the swamp.  And what we’ve witnessed are spineless Republicans who, instead of charging up the hill behind President Trump they are cowering in the trenches or worse, working to undermine his plans.

It’s a simple question: do you want to create wealth for people or for government? But what we’re seeing right now are Republicans who are tentative about creating a simple and straightforward — and bold! — tax reform system that would grow wealth for people. Could it be because they are more attached to their power and are afraid to shrink government?

So, as we sit with our toes tapping we at I Spy decided to take a look at what the House has proposed in the way of tax reform.  We talk about it all: the good and the bad and maybe some ugly, so you, the citizen, can decide on the plan’s merits.  And now that the Senate’s version has been released, you’ll know what to look for in their plan. Because in the back of your mind, you should always be asking, “Whose side are they on? The taxpayer or the government—and their own career in Congress?”

Enough! Idiotic Enviro Policies Allowing 300,000 Acres To Burn is NOT Normal

Show Summary: This week we take an in-depth look at how and why the Oregon forest fires have exploded this year. We also look at where they’re occurring and why in those particular areas. The answer may surprise you. Don’t miss the environment myths that inevitably lead to these devastating forest fires and the lies they spread about how the devastation is “good” for the environment.

If Oregon’s do-nothing, let-it-burn policy of environmental destruction angers you, take it out on your representatives — state and federal. See this take action page for suggestions on what to do and how to contact them.

Original Air Dates: Sept 9 & 10, 2017 | Dr. Bob Zybach

There are currently over 300,000 acres of Oregon forest fires—and the vast majority didn’t need to happen. This week, Dr. Zybach explodes the environmental myths that have led to these devastating fires.

To find out the how and why the Oregon forest fires are out of control, we talk to Dr. Bob Zybach who not only did his dissertation on wildfires but has over 25 years of practical forest management as a reforester.  He predicted out -of-control forest fires as far back as 30 years ago and discusses with us how the environmental policies and practices have no basis at all in science or even common sense. As proof, none of the Oregon forest fires currently burning are on land he replanted. Good, sound management works.

Listen in to find out the facts—where these fires are burning and why there. You’ll be surprised at the amazing answer to where they are not burning.

Tune in to hear the economic devastation of the Oregon forest fires, including the jaw-dropping loss of income and jobs from not being able to help rebuild Houston or Florida, the insane messaging from the far-left as they try to find a way to justify these fires (see Willamette Week’s stupidity of how the Columbia River Gorge Wildfire could Help Wildlife “Flourish”), and now the pressure we must put on our state and federal government TO STOP THIS NONSENSE.

Take Action. Prevent more Oregon Forest Fires!

It’s time to change policies. Now.  This show will give you plenty of ammunition to contact your representatives at the state and local levels to demand change.

Angry? Ready to do something? Then take out your anger on your state and federal representatives.

Show Summary: The mainstream media finally got their first win — an open assault on a Republican Congressman. We are in dangerous, dangerous territory and the media is still willing to sell its soul and America to sell a few ads. Turns out today’s click-bait media isn’t so new. But it’s still dangerous. Original Air Dates: June 17 & 18, 2017 | Kathryn Blackhurst & Scott McEwen

The kind of sensationalism that the NY Times, Washington Post, and others are all using to drive up their online views is nothing new. It’s been around for at least 100 years. For those who think this is “nothing new” and think nothing of it, you’re wrong. Dead wrong. Don’t miss Mark’s opener to find out why there is a dangerous precedent to today’s journalism and how the media has pushed us into war. Don’t think for a moment they will stop going after Donald Trump.

Kathryn Blackhurst

We start out with Kathryn Blackhurst, a political reporter for Laura Ingraham’s LifeZette (lifezette.com). She has two great articles we discuss with her, about the shooting inspired by the media, and the big story that the mainstream media is ignoring.

Inside James Comey's head cartoon
Did you catch last week’s cartoon?

Perhaps it’s because it completely undermines their entire story line against Trump, no doubt.

We start out by discussing the horrific shooting that happened this week as a Bernie staffer finally took the actions so many on the Left have been promoting, intentionally or not—taking up arms and attacking Republicans.  CNN, MSNBC, and so many other of the Leftist “talking heads” and “comedians” bear some responsibility here. But so does the NY Times and the Washington Post. They have been working to undermine the election and call it fraudulent; with their near-constant hate speech, it was only a matter of time before this happened.

Kathryn also shares that story that the media is working so hard to ignore. Is this the smoking gun President Trump needs?

We also get her views, as a relatively new journalist, on the media industry itself. Does she see hope on the horizon? What’s been her experiences as someone fresh to the industry? And are the Left-wing biases we hear so much about real?

You can see all of Kathryn’s recent news articles here.

Scott McEwen

After Kathryn, we turn to NY Times bestselling author, Scott McEwen, who has written both fiction and non-fiction (as has most NY Times writers, apparently). We ask for his thoughts, as a writer, on the media and the constant anti-Trump drumbeat.

Scott is also an attorney (a recovering one anyway) and gives us his thoughts on Comey’s recent testimony — that Comey leaked FBI work products and details about the Hillary Clinton investigation where Loretta Lynch ordered Comey to refer to the Hillary email scandal as a “matter” rather than an “investigation.” Does it matter?

We also get his thoughts on the Deep State. As a writer, Scott has a lot of contacts in the intelligence community. Tune in to find out what they’re telling him about Comey and a lot more. Could they topple Trump? Tune in to find out.

Be sure to visit our I Spy Radio Store to order Scott’s books! Dad will love them for Father’s Day, even if they’re a little late. They’re definitely worth the wait.

About all you need to know about how terrified the Left is over what Donald Trump is going to do to the EPA can be summed up with the title of a recent article from The Hill: “Trump takes Hatchet to the EPA.”

Why the Left is so panicky is easy to explain: Trump threatens their money machine.

Stopping the EPA as the Left’s Slush Fund

News “broke” last week about the secret slush fund the Department of Justice had set up to fund Far Left, social justice groups like Black Lives Matter, La Raza, and others. We say “news ‘broke’ last week” because long-time listeners of I Spy know all about these kinds of slush funds—set up first under Bill Clinton and used extensively under Obama. (In case you don’t know about them, we discuss them with Myron Ebell.)

Can Trump Make the EPA Great Again? Many people have heard of sue and settle but it’s more than that. There is a whole host of funding mechanism where Progressives bleed off billions of dollars (yes, billions) from a bloated federal budget and give it to Far Left organizations. The EPA has been a major funding source for all things Far-Left (anti-industry) environmental, which will use these funds to elect Far Left politicians—who will then keep the tax-dollar spigot flowing.

But it’s not just money.

Stopping the EPA’s Job-Killing Regulations

We’ve said it before on I Spy: the difference between free-market health care and government-run health care is that in a free-market system, you’re a customer. But in government-run, socialized health care (i.e., Obamacare), you’re a liability.

In other words, you cost the govt money.

And because you cost the government money, they had a fiduciary duty — even the right — to tell you how to live your life. It’s why big-government politicians like Michael Bloomberg felt he had the right to tell people what size sodas they could have. It sounded trivial and micromanaging but overweight people cost the government more, because they’re typically less healthy and therefore more expensive. So in their minds it was their duty to force people to drink less sugary drinks. And they’re right. Because voters gave them that right when a duly-elected Democrat Congress passed Obamacare.

And here’s the rub: Healthcare is the Left’s means to control people. The Environment is how they control business and industry.

This Week’s Show: Dismantling the EPA

Tune in this week to I Spy Radio to hear Myron Ebell, the Director of the Center for Energy and Environment at the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) and the chair of the Cooler Heads Coalition, a coalition of over two dozen non-profit groups in this country and abroad that question global warming alarmism and oppose energy rationing policies.

We’ll talk with Myron about the massive changes coming at the EPA, budgetary cuts, what they mean to Leftist funding, and the incredible turnaround for CEI—compared to where they last year.

Nearly a year ago, Myron’s organization, CEI, was being sued by a group of attorneys general—under the direction of the Obama administration.  CEI, along with Exxon-Mobil and other companies and non-profits, was being sued because they didn’t believe in the religion of Global Warming. This was a direct assault on free speech, and the Obama administration went so far as to use RICO laws, normally reserved for racketeering and the mafia.

Think of that. The Obama administration tried to use the power of the federal government to silence free speech.

We also talk with Dr. Tim Ball to get his thoughts on the Left’s funding streams, regulatory changes and their impact on industry and market forces, and the media as they attempt to derail President Trump’s “assault” on the EPA.

Speaking of, don’t miss why the media has always been a supporter of the powerful, going back all the way to the time of King George.

Trump vs Globalism

Trump vs Globalism

Show Summary: It’s Trump vs Globalism. While we’ve had successful businessmen as presidents before, we’ve never had such a successful entrepreneur before.  And not just an entrepreneur but a builder. And sometimes when you build, you need to tear some things down. Like that whole New Order. Last week, Trump fired the first shot at the heart of Globalism: open borders. Listen this week to hear how and why a businessman’s approach is so different from the typical Washington mindset and how that approach will make for a successful transformation of America away from the Globalists who would rule Her.

This week it’s Trump vs Globalism. Globalism is about subverting America to the larger international order. It’s about the “global community” taking priority over—and largely deciding—America’s interests.

We see this “globalist” mindset especially in the environmental movement, where people who don’t even live in an area take it upon themselves to make environmental decisions for those who do live there. No logging. No mining. No ranching. No water.

Trump vs Globalism

Fortunately, the globalist candidate—Hillary Clinton—lost. And also fortunately Donald Trump understands exactly who the real enemies are: those who put the rest of the world ahead of America. President Trump brings an entrepreneur’s mindset to put plans to action to make America great again. A businessman’s mindset of demanding actions over plans, even if those actions aren’t perfect.

If there is one organization that has to be heaving a huge sigh of relief over the election, it has to be the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). ALEC has been promoting conservative, free-market, pro-business policies for decades. And now, finally, we have a businessman in office who truly gets it.

We talk with Jonathan Williams, the Vice President of the Center for State Fiscal Reform at ALEC about the changes Trump is already making. We especially focus on President Trump’s so-called “Muslim Ban”which put a 90-day moratorium on immigrants and travelers from seven countries where there is a high amount of radical Islam. We also look at how a businessman’s decision making is so vastly different from that of a career politician — to say nothing of a community organizer.

And then we talk with Carl Higbie, a former SEAL, author, and Fox News and CNN contributor about the “Muslim Ban” and Trump’s first military action—the attack in Yemen that killed 14 militants and, regretfully, a Navy SEAL. Here too, don’t miss how a businessman’s attitude and winning mindset will lead to incredibly different outcomes in the Middle East.

Watch Carl destroy a former Michigan governor as she tries to claim non-Americans not even in America are protected by the Constitution.

In 2014 the White House, under President Obama, spent 22.2 billion dollars alone on climate change, helping to fund the very far left groups who support global warming and its affiliated organizations.  Just think what that much funding means to those far left groups and how it enables them to fight things such as the Pebble Mine.  It also means our own government endorsed and paid for lawsuits and other protests to stop economic development.

Listeners of I Spy will remember Pebble Mine was the mine near Bristol Bay in Alaska, an area that the environmentalists treasure.  Pebble Mine has over $500 billion of gold and copper just waiting to be dug up. And it’s also the mine that the EPA preemptively moved to deny even before they’d applied for a permit.

In their ensuing lawsuit, Pebble Mine executives found that there was collusion between the EPA and environmental groups in clear violation of the Federal Advisory Committee Act.  This act mandates that the federal government is to get feedback on a project from all sides of the aisle.  But the EPA was not getting information and feedback from all sides of the aisle; instead, they were colluding with the environmental left, manipulating public meeting laws and so much more.  Pebble Mine executives were able to prove the collusion due to e-mails that had been passed back and forth between EPA staff and the environmental groups who were lining up by the dozens to get their share of the money to help stop the Pebble Mine work.

So we check in with John Shivley, Chairman of the Board of Pebble Partnership, to get updated on where the project stands and their more hopeful outlook given how the election turned out.  We also discuss what changes he would like to see to happen at the EPA and what reforms would benefit this development as well as future developments.

Then we talk with Dr. Tim Ball, our go-to expert on climate change nonsense and who is also very familiar with the inner workings of the EPA.  We’ll ask him what he foresees might be some changing roles of the EPA in a Trump administration.  We look at some of the policies that need to be pulled out of the EPA and those that need to be added in to make the EPA a commonsense agency.  Is it even possible? We’ll also get his take on new policies and operational changes that are needed to end some of the nonsense that is coming out of the current administration.

Just imagine the difference! After eight years of a far-left lawless Obama administration who did not follow their own rules but also never held government officials responsible (Lois Lerner still has faced any punishment), can we look for a Trump administration to do the opposite and finally hold officials accountable?  Join us this week as we take a look down the road.

The Final Countdown – Obamacare Slavery vs Freedom

The Final Countdown – Obamacare Slavery vs Freedom

Show Summary: This is it. The final countdown. And if there’s one issue that sums up this entire race for the presidency, if there’s one issue that truly defines the difference between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump it is Obamacare. It is a choice between Obamacare slavery or the freedom of repeal and replace. Tune in to find out why Obamacare is not—and never has been—just about health care.

It all comes down to this. Will America choose Obamacare slavery? Or freedom through repeal and replace?

Single-payer, universal health care.  It’s been Hillary’s dream for decades and now she is on the verge of fulfilling her dream to make America slaves again. Because Obamacare is not just about health insurance. That’s just how you pay for health care. The reality of Obamacare is how it gives the government permission to control nearly every aspect of your life. Because when you give the government control over your health, it’s an open door.

This belief of total government control stands in stark contrast to Trump’s wish of repealing and replacing. It’s about freedom vs. Hillary’s all-intrusive “health care.”

Obamacare Slavery

Exactly how would that affect us?  We talk with Lisa Lettenmaier, who clues us in how Oregonians are already feeling the intrusion of big government. For those who are in CCOs (Coordinated Care Organizations) here in Oregon, in-home inspections are occurring where medical staff go to the home to make suggestions on “lifestyle changes.”

This is the crux of what we’re facing: what happens if there is a single payer system combined with an all-too-powerful government? It is the proverbial “slippery slope.” In just a few years, we could literally be opening the door to government intrusions as voluntary assessments become mandatory. And government bureaucrats will be making decisions for you. Think about that. What if they determine you’re mentally unfit because you’re an “intolerant Christian” and find guns in your home?  What if they determine you shouldn’t be parenting because of your faith’s “biases”?  If the expansion of government is bad now what can happen if Obamacare becomes a single payer system under a Hillary presidency?

Our guest, Lisa Lettenmaier, truly opens the door to expose what is going on in the health care world, and gives us insights into why insurance costs are escalating and what we can be looking at if Obamacare expands even further.  So many promises of savings and better care have never materialized. This week we take a look at Obamacare and, in the last of our series of shows to compare Hillary and Trump, we compare their two very different health care plans.

If you or someone you know is still on the fence, this week’s show will push them over. Don’t miss it!
