Air Dates: July 28 & 29, 2018 | Scott McEwen

Scott McEwen is perhaps best known for American Sniper, which he co-authored with Chris Kyle. Since then, he has written his own series of books, the Sniper Elite series, and his latest book is Camp Valor (available on Amazon).

This week we talk to Scott, not only about his latest book, but what the media is doing to itself. Which has turned out to be a theme of ours of late, starting with last week’s show with Scott Adams. And we’ll continue that a bit more next week.

For now, we talk with Scott McEwen about some of the motivating factors that drove him to write this book.

What he’s seeing is generation that is in danger of losing its way. The news media. The education system. The gaming industry. It’s all coming together—and not in good ways. Is the next generation in danger of losing the freedoms the previous generations had fought and died for? Or worse—giving it away?

The next generation of patriots will face new threats, use new weapons, some of which haven’t even been invented yet. We need to give them the foundation they need to face these threats but also teach them to carry the torch of freedom forward.

Scott’s new book, Camp Valor, focuses on a troubled youth who fights to overcomes his past and find the strength and  courage to overcome incredible odds. Camp Valor is also a story about finding hope and a seizing a second chance when it’s offered.

We also get some inside information on the Hammonds case — Eastern Oregon farmers who were targeted by the Obama administration—and the Malheur standoff.

Camp Valor

From the Publisher:

When Wyatt gets framed for a friend’s crime, he thinks his life is over. But then a mysterious stranger visits him in jail with an unusual proposal: spend three months in a secret government camp and have a ten-year prison sentence wiped clean.

Wyatt agrees, and finds himself in a world beyond his wildest dreams, with teenagers like him flying drones, defusing bombs, and jumping out of helicopters. This is no ordinary camp. Camp Valor is a secret training ground for teenage government agents, filled with juvenile offenders who desperately need a second chance. If they can prove themselves over their three-month stay and survive Hell Week, they will enter the ranks of the most esteemed soldiers in the United States military.

But enemies of the United States have gotten wind of Camp Valor, and they will do everything in their power to find out its secrets. Suddenly Wyatt and his friends have to put their training into practice, and find the bravery to protect their country.

The Art of Persuasion in the Age of Trump | Scott Adams

Show Summary: This week, we talk with Scott Adams, the creator of the world-famous Dilbert comic strip, and author of Win Bigly: Persuasion in a World Where Facts Don’t Matter, about the field of persuasion: how it works and why Trump is such a master at it.

Air Dates: July 14 & 15, 2018 | Scott Adams

This week, we talk with Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert and author of the New York Times bestselling book, Win Bigly, about the field of persuasion.

We start with Scott’s background, how he learned about the field of persuasion and his training in it. Then we get some understanding persuasion: how it works, why it works, and the barriers to it. Like how people will take entrenched mental positions and things like cognitive dissonance—where people take positions or actions that are contrary to their stated beliefs. Think: “Never Trumpers”

Speaking of Trump, we look at Trump as an example of masterful persuasion.  Have you ever wondered how President Trump manages to survive the constant media assaults that would sink any other politician? And not only survive but thrive? It’s all in the persuasion.

How many times, since June of 2015, have the Never Trumpers thought “Ah ha! This is the gaff that will finally take him out!” Only to find in the next day’s reporting that his popularity has increased.  Is Trump a magician? Maybe. But his magic wand is persuasion.

We’ll also look at how the Democrats are setting their hair on fire every time Trump does something — even when that something is good for America. Is this an example at examples of bad persuasion? Could the Democrats’ persuasion actually work?

Original Air Dates: May 19 & 20, 2018 | Rob Taylor, Sgt. (ret) Greg Stube, Scott McEwen

This Week: In an unusual move for I Spy we are having three guests this week to help cover some important issues. One of these is a massive potential impact on our 2nd Amendment rights here in Oregon.  We felt it important enough that we deterred from our usual format to be sure we could help get the word out on Rob Taylor’s work to pass ordinances at the county level to Preserve the Second Amendment.

Oregon’s Latest Gun Confiscation Attempt: IP43

In a nutshell—yes. It is a gun confiscation bill. (Read the full text of Oregon’s IP43 and make up your own mind.)

We talk to Rob about the new bill IP 43, being pushed by our current Kate Brown, as a masked attempt to confiscate guns in Oregon.  Listen to find out what your community can do to not only protect itself but why it’s important to get out and vote to stop this atrocious bill from ever becoming law.  Be sure to visit Rob’s website www.cooscountywatchdog.com for more information on the Second Amendment Protection Ordinance.

What Republicans Could Use: Leadership

Then we turn to Green Beret Sgt. (ret) Greg Stube, who has written a new book Conquer Anything.  This excellent read gives you insights into the lives of those serving in the special forces.  Sgt. Stube writes about his own active duty and the challenges he was faced with and why ethos taught to him in preparation for these challenges now help him every day, civilian life.

You’ll hear what it means to be part of an A-team and why every man pulls for the group, which ends up protecting the individual in the most dire of situations. Riveting to read, you won’t be sorry to dig into this book as you learn how to apply special forces, A-team lessons to your own life.

Deep State: New Revelations

Specializing in military operations, author Scott McEwen, makes a return visit to I Spy to discuss the new information coming out about Obama’s FBI’s attack on a political opponent. New this week: actual evidence of the Deep State and FBI planting actual spies inside the Trump campaign.

And, unbelievably, new secret means to get around pesky things like laws and courts. All in attempt to get dirt on the future President. Why? To derail his election? To use as leverage post-election? To stage a coup?

Since when did entrapment stop being a thing?

We discuss with Scott, a recovering attorney, the dangerous road our law enforcement agencies are traveling down as they attempt to thwart an election through illegal and manipulative actions. We also get his thoughts on the upcoming Inspector General’s report on the FBI conduct. Will it be a nothing burger? Or are a lot of people about to face serious charges?

And don’t miss our discussion on Scott’s new book Camp Valor that’s coming out this summer.  Another block buster book you won’t want to miss.

New Questions: Las Vegas Shooter and Police Response

New Questions: Las Vegas Shooter and Police Response

Show Summary: A lot of questions still remain about the mass killing in Las Vegas. Not least of these are questions about the Las Vegas shooting police investigation itself—especially questions about the new timeline. Why such significant changes? We talk with law enforcement expert, Doug Wyllie, to analyze the process of the investigation, including how information is gathered along with how and when it is released to the public.

We also talk with NY Times bestselling author, David T. Hardy, about his just-released book, I’m from the Government and I’m here to Kill You: The The True Human Cost of Official Negligence . Why aren’t government officials held accountable? Why can’t they be held accountable.

Doug Wyllie: Las Vegas Shooting Police Investigation

In the immediate aftermath of the killing in Vegas, the authorities seemed fairly sure of two things. The timeline of the shooting and the FBI was certain the shooter had no ties to terrorism. Which was odd because they were also certain they knew practically nothing about him. Except that he wasn’t a terrorist.

If you heard last week’s I Spy Radio show, “The Las Vegas Shooting — Former Jihadist Reveals what FBI & Media are Ignoring,” you know there is a lot of circumstantial evidence that the FBI and law enforcement ought to be looking at that could show ties to terrorism. And isn’t the goal to prevent these from happening again? So why ignore possible ties? As Kamal pointed out, you don’t have to be a member of ISIS—or even a be a Muslim—to receive support and training from ISIS, the Muslim Brotherhood, or any Islamic terrorist group.

As we also pointed out last week, the FBI’s logical inconsistency (we know nothing at all about him but we’re sure he’s not a terrorist) raises questions about the FBI and about the investigation. Why would they do that?

To help us better understand the Las Vegas shooting police investigation, we turn to Doug Wyllie, the editor-at-large of PoliceOne, the most comprehensive and trusted online destination for law enforcement agencies and police departments worldwide.

To be clear, We’re not being critical of local law enforcement, we just want to analyze and better understand the process, especially when it comes to communications and releasing information to the public. Especially about the new and revised timeline for the Las Vegas shooting.

There is a huge difference between a security guard interrupting the shooting and a security guard showing up before it ever even started. Not least of which because it raises an entirely new question: why did he stop shooting?

Be sure to visit PoliceOne.com. They have some great articles for law enforcement article and for civilians, like what can and should you do during a mass shooting? See the links and resource section below for just a few of the more timely ones.

David Hardy: Why is Government Never Accountable?

Here at I Spy Radio, our tagline is “Keeping an eye on big government.” And pretty much since day one we’ve wondered why is it that some government bureaucrat can completely screw up — but never be held accountable. In the private sector, if you waste a billion dollars you’d probably get fired. In government, you’re promoted. What the…?

Except it’s worse than overspending. Way worse.

It turns out our government has not only wastefully spent our tax dollars, got us deeply into debt, created massive programs that fail time and again but they have actually killed people. In some cases, outright murder. And yet those responsible didn’t even see jail time.

Our second guest, NY Times bestselling author, David T. Hardy, has a new book out, I’m from the Government and I’m here to Kill You: The The True Human Cost of Official Negligence . We get his thoughts on the government officials and the FBI handling the Las Vegas shooting police investigation. He outlines not only why government officials aren’t held accountable but why can’t they be held accountable.

Think about that. Our government bureaucrats have set up the court systems to legally shield themselves from responsibility—no matter how irresponsible they are.

We now have a government of the people and for the people, just not responsible to the people.

But there are some solutions. Tune in to find out what.

Air Dates: June 4th & 5th, 2016 | Brendan Kirby & Michael Reagan

We have a very fun show for you this week! Politics, lessons from Reagan, and lots more.

We’ll kick things off with Brendan Kirby, a senior political reporter for LifeZette, Laura Ingraham’s news, life, and pop-culture site (think life + gazette).  Brendan had three timely and interesting articles that directly tie in with Trump’s election, such as all those Democrats who are moving to Republicans—does this really put blue states in play? The flood of illegal immigrants in the past year—especially concerning on the heels of the riots in Southern California and the new report of smugglers bringing Middle East terrorists across America’s southern border.  We also discuss bloated government agencies like the TSA and the long lines at airports. We’ll get a peek privatization of airport security.

Lessons Reagan might give Trump

Michael Reagan on lessons Reagan might give TrumpThen we welcome bestselling author, and oldest son of Ronald Reagan, Michael Reagan who has a new book out Lessons My Father Taught Me.  This is a very intriguing look into the life lessons President Reagan passed on to his son, including many sneak peeks into Reagan’s life: raising his children, Reagan’s experience with his own father, Jack, and much more.

Tune in to learn who was really behind Ronald Reagan losing his job as host of the popular “General Electric Theater” and the pressure brought on GE to cut Reagan loose—but also how Reagan turned a failure into a success. And of course we just couldn’t let Michael Reagan go without hearing his thoughts on today’s politics, Trump’s candidacy, lessons Reagan would want to pass on to the Republican candidate, and how the Republican party is no longer the party of Reagan.

Obama and Hillary want to destroy the military

Obama and Hillary want to destroy the military

Show Summary (Show Promo): Make no doubt about it: Obama and Hillary want to destroy the military. We hear from former SEAL, Carl Higbie, on the attempt by the military to shut down his free speech. After capturing the second-most wanted terrorist in Iraq, the “Butcher of Fallujah”, his fellow teammates faced courts martial because Carl’s commanding officers sided with the terrorist over their own soldiers after he accused them of “abuse.” The Scott McEwen, who wrote the foreword to Carl’s book, weighs in on the damages that Hillary would do to the military, continuing Obama’s legacy.

Our Constitutional rights are not forfeited once someone joins the military. Our brave military support and defend the Constitution.  But under Obama’s Administration and Hillary’s State Department the military has been reduced to a social Petri dish that has politicized all things—including orders given on the field of battle.  The politicians and bureaucrats’ actions are not only putting America at risk but is creating such a low morale that 90% of the military will not support Hillary and many of those will leave the military should Hillary be elected.

Last week we brought you the ugly story of a “conservative” news source blackballing a journalist because they were in line with the Obama administration on the narrative of Assad killing his own people in Syria, which wasn’t the case. This week, former SEAL, Carl Higbie, tells us his story about his commanding officers turning on their own troops in favor of a terrorist—and trying to ruin his career once he tried to tell the truth.

Carl shares with us the real-life experiences on the battlefield, the decisions that combat troops made to capture the second-most wanted terrorist, and the ugly betrayal those same troops met from their Obama-controlled commanders who tried to court martial them all based on the lies from the terrorist who accused them of “abuse” during his capture, all detailed in his latest book Enemies, Foreign and Domestic: A SEAL’s Story.  Listen to find out how the second most wanted terrorist, The Butcher of Fallujah, was able to manipulate the US Military into almost destroying his captors.

Then our second guest, former Oregonian, Scott McEwen, co-author of American Sniper and the bestselling Sniper Elite series, who is also an expert in military operations and what happened in the Benghazi attack, shares with us what a Hillary presidency would do to our military.

Scott knows all about Carl Higbie’s case (Scott wrote the foreword to Carl’s book) and doesn’t hold anything back on the travesty of what happened. We also discuss whether we will ever know the truth of what happened at Benghazi, the two new whistleblowers that have come forward about what actually happened that night in Benghazi, and how Obama’s administration is attempting to destroy and weaken the capability of what used to be the finest military in the world.

We also get a peek into his new book Ghost Sniper and updates on the movie for his first book of the Sniper Elite Series: Target America.  And stay tuned for his upcoming non-fiction book American Commander.

Air Dates: May 23 & 24, 2015

It’s Memorial Day weekend, the official kickoff to summer. Parades, picnics, hot dogs and apple pie, flags everywhere. It is a great weekend to be an American.

And none of that it possible without the dedication and sacrifice of those who fight to keep this country free. On this week’s show, we do that with bestselling author—and huge supporter of the military—Scott McEwen, whose latest book, The Sniper and the Wolf, just hit shelves this week. Scott joins I Spy Radio for a celebration of America and her heroes.

But before Scott, we’ll talk with Dr. Gerard Lameiro, who will update us on a very real threat to America—one that, up until recently, seemed the stuff of movies and science fiction: an EMP. An electromagnetic pulse is not designed to destroy buildings or kill people; instead, it’s designed to electronics. As incredible as it sounds, when an EMP goes off, all electronics in its blast area are rendered useless—unless they’re protected. (See below for some EMP protection resources.)

An EMP device on board a high-speed missile and launched a few miles from our shore, in international waters, would take only seconds before it could be detonated above major population areas. And it would take years for that area to recover. This is what keeps America’s strategists and defenders up at night. Tune in to hear what, if anything, they’re doing about it. Find out why a billionaire hedge fund manager says, “Of all the things that are possible, nothing is more scary than an electromagnetic pulse.”

Update (May 26, 2015): Mark asked if there were non-nuclear EMPs. According to the Daily Mail, it turns out that there are: a low-powered EMP missile that destroys electrical systems in its path as it flies over. No nuclear warhead needed. “In 2012, aircraft manufacturer Boeing successfully tested the weapon on a one-hour flight during which it knocked out the computers of an entire military compound.”

EMP Protection Resources

There are a lot of great resources on the web – everything from some simple DIY projects to elaborate, pre-made Faraday cages. Do you have a resource we should add? Contact us to add it to the list or add yours in the comment section.

  • One of the best things you can do to protect yourself against an EMP is to store drinking water, food, and other survival items (e.g., heating/cooking sources, and home-protection). Consider that it could take weeks at a minimum for vital systems to recover and probably years to fully recover.
  • Water is hard to store so look to buy a water purification system (consider that you may not be able to boil water). You can find many options out there but a $16 LifeStraw could literally be a lifesaver
  • If you have no other options, or need something quick while you build a better option, an old microwave apparently can be used as a makeshift Faraday cage but it not as reliable as a true Faraday cage
  • A better option is to make a Faraday cage out of a metal trash can
  • EMP cover – this is a unique lined, multi-layer “envelope” that you can slip electronics into
