Take Action! END Oregon Governor’s Covid Emergency Powers – HJR18

Take Action! END Oregon Governor’s Covid Emergency Powers – HJR18

Summary: HJR18 (House Joint Resolution 18) is a simple, one-sentence bill to end the Oregon governor’s abuse of power and terminate her covid emergency powers.

Take Action Briefing

What: Oregon is suffering under their governor’s abuse of power. The Oregon constitution clearly limits the power of the governor, who must seek the approval of the legislature. But she has ignore them for 14 months. It’s time to end this.
Who: All Oregonians.Oregon businesses. Churches. Every Oregonian is impacted by this. But out of state people can certainly weigh in to say how well your state is doing without these constant lockdowns.
How: Take action right now to email the members (addresses below) of Oregon’s House Committee on Rules, and urge them to bring HJR 18 to the floor. A simple, one-sentence resolution to end the governor’s self-declared emergency powers.
When: Now, now, now!
Why: States like Texas and Florida have ended their lockdowns, even mask mandates. All businesses are open. Did Texas and Florida die? Did they see a huge uptick in covid cases? No! Just the opposite. Their cases went down by 70%. Oregon businesses are struggling and they need your help!

Take Action! Pass HJR18 and Terminate the Covid “Emergency”

As mentioned during the May 1st, 2021 I Spy Radio Show, a joint resolution, HJR18, is a simple sentence that reads, “Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Oregon: Pursuant to ORS 401.204, the state of emergency declared by the Governor in Executive Order 20-03 on March 8, 2020, relating to the COVID-19 outbreak in Oregon, is terminated.” Short. Simple. To the point.

HJR 18 is currently in the House Committee on Rules. We urge you to copy and past the email addresses below, and ask they bring it to the floor. Be polite and respectful. But be strong. It can be as simple as “Please support HJR 18 and bring it to the floor.” It’s time to end the endless emergency orders.

Defending Freedom while Leftists Sabotage it | Evidence Leads to Obama?

Show Summary: The first duty of government is to protect people. That’s why defending police and law enforcement is so important. But a new book, The Obama Gang, points to an Obama sabotage — a coordinated effort to undermine police in America. Here in Oregon, the right to defend yourself is always under attack. Did Republicans sell out? Literally?

URGENT: Be sure to contact the Oregon House Committee on Rules members and urge them to bring HJR18 to the floor. HJR 18 would end the governor’s emergency orders. See list of emails below.

Original Air Dates: May 1st & 2nd, 2021 | Steve Pomper & Rob Taylor

This Week: How many times have you watched that scary movie where somebody hears a noise, and as the stairs creak, they head downstairs in the dark while you scream at them, “Are you crazy?! Turn on the light!”  Or think, “There’s no way I’d do that without a gun!”

That pretty much sums up how Oregon’s legislature, and many blue states, are treating its citizens.  Because asking citizens to keep guns locked up, or not allowing law enforcement to do its job, feels like you’re living unprotected in that creaking and dark house.

With the good guys maybe not arriving in time.

Defend yourself? Good luck with that

On this week’s show, we take a look at how a society breaks down, and tyranny becomes the rule of law.  The stressors our police face become not only worrisome but dangerous as they drop their shields and find another way of life.  It’s happening right now in real time with hundreds of cops fleeing the large cities they were trying to protect — only to be denied the tools, or political support, they needed to get the job done.

And at a time when police are hamstrung, in Oregon politicians are making it harder for people to protect themselves in the absence of law enforcement. New, tyrannical gun laws have been passed force law-abiding citizens to lock guns up all in name of “making you safer.” Hint: locking up guns makes criminals safer.

The Obama Gang: New Book Points to Obama Sabotage

First up, we talk with retired Seattle police officer and author of five books, Steve Pomper.  Mr. Pomper is author of the recently released, The Obama Gang.

We discuss his work as an officer and why he chose to leave the Seattle police.  And what he feels will happen as police forces continue to shrink in size and authority.

You’ll also hear how Barack Obama (through his post-presidency foundation), assembled, launched, and wages the new assault on American law enforcement. If it sounds like sabotage, it’s because it is.

In Oregon, we lock up our businesses. And our guns.

Then Oregon’s own, Rob Taylor, joins us talking about what has happened to our 2nd Amendment rights during this year’s Oregon’s legislature, and why.  First, we find out the devastating affects Governor Kate’s lock down orders have already had on small towns. And what will the new round of lock downs have? And just where are the leaders who should be defending their citizens?

Did Oregon Republicans Sell Out on Gun Rights?

A new bill, SB554, passed that requires ALL guns to be locked up. The bill makes criminals of everyday Oregonians who want their guns at the ready should an actual criminal decide their house looks ripe for the plucking. Guess who in that scenario does not have their gun locked up?

While Republicans (and Democrats) have successfully used walking out in the past to deny quorum over important bills, for some reason, the Republicans stayed and allowed SB554 to pass. They didn’t vote for it, but they didn’t stop it. What gives?

Could it be that Oregon Republican legislators were “bought off”…? Oregon voters may not be too happy to hear what happened and why. And one Senator in particular may bear the brunt of it.

Take Action! End the Covid “Emergency”

As mentioned during the show, a joint resolution, HJR18,  is a simple sentence that reads, “Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Oregon: Pursuant to ORS 401.204, the state of emergency declared by the Governor in Executive Order 20-03 on March 8, 2020, relating to the COVID-19 outbreak in Oregon, is terminated.” Short. Air Dates: May 4 & 5, 2019 | Andi Buerger & Karen Kataline

This Week: We’ve all heard a baby’s laugh that makes the world light up.  At that moment, it feels as if we’re shielded from the darkness, a little bubble where the innocent are protected.

But where there is light there is also darkness and one of the darkest parts of that same world is human trafficking. Where innocence is destroyed. Smothered by men and women who turn innocence into a commodity.  Something to be sold, traded, and exploited. However, there is hope.

Human Trafficking: It’s real and it’s in the U.S.

Infographic on human trafficking from Department of Homeland Security's Blue Campaign
An Infographic on human trafficking from Dept of Homeland Security

It seems impossible but even right here in the U.S., the land of the free, human trafficking—in all 50 states—not only exists but in some cases thrives.

Sadly, the numbers of those exploited are rising. According to the FBI, human trafficking is thought to be the 3rd largest criminal activity world-wide.  A world-wide epidemic of condemning children and adults to a lifetime of anger and hopelessness.  And it happens everywhere, rural and urban, to all ages, and to men, women, boys, and girls.

But this show is about help. And hope. Plus, it not only exposes what’s happening, but it will give you tools to help others get out from this nightmare.

Hope and Help: Beulah’s Place

So to understand more about human trafficking, we talk with Andi Buerger, the CEO and Founder of Beulah’s Place located in Redmond, Oregon.  Andi, a survivor of human trafficking herself, has created a support system for homeless children, including those who have been trapped in the human trafficking world.

Beulah’s Place focuses on getting these children food, clothing, and a place to sleep. They also find them supports that will start the healing process and lead to another life.  Listen to find out what her work has meant to so many youth who without her organization’s help felt trapped and unloved.

Get Help and Healing

Then we bring in Karen Kataline, a fellow talk-show host. Karen holds an MSW (masters of social work) and talks to us about the healing process that takes place as these young people start to learn a new norm.  She discusses what behaviors to look for, the types of counseling that have proven to help, and this very real problem of human trafficking in today’s society.

Help Stop Human Trafficking

We’re bringing some light to this because it is our hope that those in our listening audience will become more aware of the issues. So we hope you will join us to learn some tools and find resources that you might be able to be in a position to help someone who truly needs it.

Recognize the signs of Human Trafficking
Recognizing key indicators of human trafficking is the first step in identifying victims and can help save a life. See the list of signs and indicators of human trafficking via the Department of Homeland Security

So why is this so important? Aside from the cruelty, stopping human trafficking can have long-term impact. Because human trafficking and abuse causes generational problems to fester in our society.  Left alone the rage, self-hate, confusion, and feelings of betrayal these children and adults experience will impact our future for generations to come.  Child abuse is no longer something we can turn our backs on. Perpetrators have only become more bold and more aggressive. We cannot ignore this problem any longer.

You can help break the cycle. You can be someone’s answer to prayer. Please tune in and help spread the word.

Facts and Figures

  • According to some estimates, approximately 80% of trafficking involves sexual exploitation, and 19% involves labor exploitation (Dosomething.org)
  • 40 percent of U.S. human trafficking happens in the Southeast
  • Human Trafficking Is an Epidemic in the U.S. It’s Also Big Business (via Fortune, April 14, 2019)
    • “Human trafficking is estimated to bring in global profits of about $150 billion a year—$99 billion from sexual exploitation, according to the International Labor Organization. Nearly 9,000 cases in the U.S. were reported to the National Human Trafficking Hotline and BeFree Textline in 2017—a 13% increase from the prior year, according to the Polaris Project. But this data is incomplete, as cases are severely underreported.”
    • “Some of the biggest factors that lead vulnerable children to become vulnerable adults are poverty, homelessness, abuse at home, the foster system, and glamorization of the sex industry, what is essentially a “pipeline of vulnerability,” said Dr. Sharon Cooper, founder and CEO of Developmental and Forensic Pediatrics.”
    • “While prostitution is defined as the exchange of sex for money, drugs, or influence between two consenting adults—where consent can be given—human trafficking means there is third-party control.”

Take Action Stop Human Trafficking

Take Action Stop Human Trafficking

Take Action Briefing

What: Human trafficking sounds like something out of a past century. Or out of some third world country. But it’s very real — 10-20 million victims in the world and 10s of thousands, perhaps as high as 200,000 victims right here in the U.S.
Who: Everyone. Human trafficking affects both genders, all ages, all walks of life, and everywhere. It happens in inner cities, suburbs, and rural areas. Poor, middle class, wealthy.
How: Take action to learn the signs of human trafficking. If you’re a past victim, seek help. If you’re a victim (or know someone who might be) there is help.
When: Now!
Why: Human trafficking is a horrific abuse. Stopping human trafficking can prevent generations of abuse because unless victims get help to heal their past, they can and often do take it out on the next generation.

Official Statement from I Spy Radio on KUIK Closure

Official Statement from I Spy Radio on KUIK Closure

We feel blessed to have received many emails and phone calls from former listeners of KUIK who have reached out to let us know we’re missed, to find out where we’re landing in Portland — and what they can do to help. Here’s the latest.

Losing KUIK

KUIK Superstar Jayne Carroll talks Russian collusion on I Spy Radio
KUIK Superstar, Jayne Carroll. She’ll be missed! But she’s podcasting on thejaynecarrollshow.net

Like so many of our listeners in the Portland area, we were caught off guard and deeply saddened by the sudden sale and disposal of KUIK, 1360-AM in Hillsboro. KUIK was a valuable and needed conservative voice in the Portland area and its left us without a Portland home.

Over the past week, we feel so incredibly blessed to have received notes, emails, and phone calls from former listeners of KUIK, who reached out to us to offer encouragement, to let us know we’re missed, and to find out where we’re landing in Portland. And to ask what they can do to help.

Please know that this is a bit of a slow process as we work our way though the options. It’s important to us to find a good fit for our show, where we compliment their lineup and vice versa.

As such, we’ve targeted our top choices of radio stations in Portland, based on their reach and current programming. We’ve already reached out to one of these stations and are allowing them some time to consider our show. We feel we’d be a good fit for their programming and we’d bring active listeners in the Portland area, such as all of you. If they pass, we’ll continue down our list until we find the right match.

What can we do?

People ask us what they can do. Some have already offered to contact stations on our behalf.

One of the best things you can do right now is to let us know what your top stations are. Also, the times and days (Saturday or Sunday) when you’re most likely to listen.  We will compile that information, along with our choices, and include your choice of station in our submission process.

Active voices will be heard.  Contacting a station that you want us to be on in the Portland market is up to you.  We always appreciate your support in whatever form that takes!

In the meantime go to our About Us page to find our current list of stations, times, and days of when we’re aired.  Remember, all our stations stream live.

Also, our producer Karla Davenport, sends out a weekly show promo e-mail on Friday’s.  Email her at karla@ispyradio.com and put “add me to the list” in the subject line so that you too can hear what’s in store for the week’s show.

Thank you again to our fans who’ve been so very encouraging during this time. We hope to have some good news to share very soon.

Take Action — Stop Oregon’s Taxpayer Funding of Abortions

Take Action — Stop Oregon’s Taxpayer Funding of Abortions

Take Action Briefing

What: Oregon is the only state in the nation that has no pro-life laws and thanks to a bill signed into law by Democrat Gov. Kate Brown, Oregon will now use taxpayer dollars to give away free abortions
Who: All Oregonians. If you’re a pro-life Oregon taxpayer, your taxes will now be used to pay for abortions
How: Take action to stop the funding of abortions by signing a petition
When: Now!
Why: Save unborn children and protect lives. In Oregon, a baby can be aborted at full term for any reason. There are no restrictions on abortion. Stopping the funding is a critical first step.

Looking for info on Mike Huckabee coming to Oregon?

The Problem in More Depth: Oregon’s Anti-Life Policies

All babies are pro-lifeSome years ago, Oregon became famous for its first-in-the-nation assisted-suicide bill. With the latest pro-abortion bills signed into law in 2017 by Democrat Governor, Kate Brown (a former lobbyist for Planned Parenthood), Oregon truly has become the Death State.

In Oregon, there are zero restrictions on abortion. None. A woman can abort her child at full term, right up to the day of birth and even in the act of birth. Abortions at any time, for any reason.

As if this was not horrid enough, to add insult to injury, Gov. Kate Brown signed into law a provision that allows Oregon to use taxpayer dollars to offer free abortions. To anyone. Even people here illegally. That’s right. If you’re a pro-life Oregonian, your hard-earned tax dollars will be used to pay for 100% free abortions—not even so much as a co-pay.

What can be done?

There is a petition drive right now to stop Oregon’s taxpayer funding of abortions. Head to Stop the Funding (www.stopthefunding.org) and sign the petition. You can sign an individual petition (for one person) or download a petition sheet for you and your family, and your friends and neighbors. Download another and take it to church.

There is a long, long way to go to protect the unborn in Oregon. This is just the first small step.

Please help. Hundreds of thousands of signatures are needed to block Oregon from using your money to kill the unborn.

Take Action – Demand Better Forest Management

Take Action – Demand Better Forest Management

Take Action Briefing

What: Demand better forest management to prevent forest fires
Who: Any one from any U.S. state. This affects all of us!
How: Contact your state and federal officials (quick link for contact info)
When: Now!
Why: Environmental policies based on fantasy and political agendas rather than actual science has led to decades of mismanagement in our National and State Forests. In 2017 alone over 1 million acres of prime forests have been destroyed. This is NOT normal and must stop now!

The Problem: Bad Policy is Causing Massive Forest Fires

oregon forest fires, Multnomah Falls Lodge
Oregon forest fires, over 300,000 acres burned so far. And nearly burned the historic Multnomah Falls Lodge.

Environmentalists have hijacked forest management, meaning they’re not managed at all. At the root of environmentalism, environmentalists believe mankind is not a part of nature. This leads to policies that urge forests and nature to be left alone and not managed at all. Fuel piles up, year after year, and it’s just a matter of time before a lightning strike lights the match.

This year, over 300,000 acres in Oregon have burned and the fires are growing. In Montana, 500,000 acres have burned. All across the West, in California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, forest fires are raging and it can all be traced to bad environmental policy.

Did you know that prior to the environmental policies of Bill Clinton, Oregon did not have one significant forest fire? Why? Because the forests were actively managed.

Did you know that by law Oregon is required to harvest timber from State lands and O & C lands and use the proceeds to fund schools and roads?

Did you know that Oregon’s three-member land board (governor, secretary of state and state treasurer) recently attempted to sell the Elliott Forest for pennies on the dollar so they wouldn’t have to bother to manage the timber — as required by law?

Did you know nearly one-third of Oregon’s counties are close to bankruptcy because they’re not allowed to log?

Demand Better Forest Management

Things you can do:

  1. Get educated! If you haven’t listened to our show on Oregon’s forest fires, head to the show page for tons of links and listen to the show. You will have plenty of information and ammunition to hit your representatives with.
  2. Contact your state representatives (see contact info, below). Tell them you are tired of these so-called environmental policies that allow our forests to burn. Point out that obviously these policies are NOT working and they must be changed to allow timber harvests. Money from trees is better than smoke and ashes. Trees grow back. This must end and it must end now. Send them a link to the show page and ask them, as their constituent, to listen to the show personally or at least have their staff listen.
  3. Contact your federal Congressman and both of your U.S. Senators. As with your state reps, demand change. Point out that the current hands off policy clearly is NOT working. It is time to end this nonsense. Feel free to send them a link to the show page as well and ask them to listen to the show. Or send them a direct link to the free podcast. (Note: podcast not available until Monday after noon.)
  4. If you’re an Oregonian, contact the Governor, Secretary of State, and State Treasurer. These three make up the state land board. Again, demand change and point out that the current policy of let-it-burn is clearly not working.

Contact Information

  • State – Don’t who your state representatives are? Need their contact info? Problem solved! Get it here. Just type in your address and get your state representative’s and senator’s phone and email.
  • Federal – Go to this link, click on your state, and then type in your address to find your Congressman and your two U.S. Senators. This works for any state. (Or just jump here for Oregon’s search page.)
  • Oregonians only – Contact the state land board members: contact Governor, Kate Brown; contact Secretary of State, Dennis Richardson (note: expand the “Executive Office” section for full contact info but his email is oregon.sos@oregon.gov); and contact the Oregon State Treasurer, Tobias Read. You may also submit a comment to the Dept. of State Lands to let staff know want changes to state policy.

Further Tips & Suggestions

Remember: when contacting your state and federal representatives, be polite but firm. There’s no need to call them names but you can and should point out that the current situation is failing and must be changed. You should definitely listen to the show on Oregon’s forest fires—you will have plenty of things you can discuss. You can also send them link (http://ispyradio.com/oregon-forest-fires) to our show and demand they listen to it and then take genuine management steps to end this environmental nonsense that does nothing to protect the environment.

These policies are NOT NORMAL! And they must end now.

Take Action – Oregon’s Gun Grab Bill

Take Action – Oregon’s Gun Grab Bill

Take Action Briefing

What: Take action to repeal Oregon’s gun confiscation bill
Who: All registered voters in Oregon
How: Sign the petition!  (see below)
When: Before Sept 17, 2017
Why: Oregon passed SB 719, a bill that allows family, household members, or any police officer to confiscate guns on the suspicion that a person might harm themselves or others

Petition to Repeal Oregon’s Gun Grab Bill

Innocent until proven guilty. The Oregon’s gun grab bill was signed into law by democrat governor Kate Brown. It allows a family or household member or even the local police to get an ex parte court order (meaning a person isn’t there to defend themselves) to confiscate legally owned guns or any “deadly weapon” on the suspicion the person might harm themselves or someone else. This unconstitutional law must be stopped.

(To find out more about Oregon’s gun grab bill, see our previous show on this topic, featuring former NRA president, David Keene, and talk-radio star, Jayne Carroll of KUIK, 1360AM.)

How You can Help Stop Oregon’s Gun Grab Bill

You can stop this by heading to REPEAL719.com AND SIGN THE PETITION to repeal this unconstitutional bill. Once there, you can download a single-signer petition — just sign it and send it in. Or you can also download or a circulator petition, which has spaces for 10 additional signers. Be sure to follow the simple rules.

More than 60,000 signatures are needed. While the effort to repeal is currently on track, from past experience, we all know those in power will try to invalidate every signature they can. That means they will throw out perfectly valid signatures because they feel something might be wrong. That often translates to needing 10–20% more signatures than the minimum to compensate for government interference.

Other Ways to Sign

Willamette Valley – If you’re heading to the Oregon State Fair, stop by the Republican Party booth or Oregonians for Immigration Reform booth. They have petitions there you can sign in person.

Baker County/La Grande – Labor Day Weekend, Halfway Fair. See the signature gathering booth by the Grandstand. Sept. 9th and 16th there will be signature gatherers at Geiser Pollman Park in Baker City (corner of Campbell & Grove streets). Call Susan Ellis Jones (541-519-5035 or 541-519-0053) if you need assistance.

Grants Pass/Medford — Petitions are available at the Republican office at 311 E Main St, Medford, OR 97501. Call (541) 770-5277 if you need information or directions.
