14-47 Oregon’s Elections: A Deeper Shade of Blue. Is Oregon Hopeless and Helpless?

14-47 Oregon’s Elections: A Deeper Shade of Blue. Is Oregon Hopeless and Helpless?

Show 14-47 Summary: In 2024, Republicans won the White House, the House, and the Senate. Other states went red. And in county after county, Trump gained support. Even among practically every demographic group. But while so much of the rest of the country went red, Oregon’s elections went a deeper shade of blue—with super majorities now in the house and senate. Is Oregon destined to be California’s mini-me? Or can Republicans save Oregon from itself? And what is on the way for Oregon with democrats in charge of everything? Brace yourself.

This Week – Oregon’s Elections. What Happened?

While Oregon wasn’t part of it, the rest of the nation voted for a better economy, smaller government, secure borders, free speech, protecting farms, schools that actually teach, and city streets free of crime. Already, Trump’s nominations are causing the Deep State to panic. But he seems committed to keep his promise to downsize and even eliminate agencies.

But not Oregon. For Republicans, Oregon took a disastrous turn as Democrats won all three statewide races (Secretary of State, Treasurer, and Attorney General). And they won a super majority in the state senate and nearly certainly will win a super majority in the house.

After Oregon’s Election, Is there Any Hope Left?

If you remember your Greek mythology, curious Pandora couldn’t resist opening the box and let out sickness, death, and other miseries. That feels like what Oregon just did to itself.

After Oregon’s elections, the prospects of a Democrat super majority in both the state house and senate is a grim reality. Every item on the Democrat wish list of miseries for the state is knocking on the box lid. Demanding to be let out. Taxes and more spending for sure, along with more environmental, “green” energy, and carbon scheme mandates to drive up costs on everything.

But they also have a problem.  Biden’s federal cash flow spigot will soon be turned off. No more federal money rolling into Oregon’s coffers to hide the deficit budget problems like PERS’ huge debt that’s causing school districts and county agencies to feel that debt.

So what can Republicans do?  Like the only thing left in Pandora’s box, Oregon has hope. That’s what we discuss with our guest, Representative Ed Diehl (HD-17).  We take a hard look at Oregon’s election and what Oregonians will be facing. And we discuss the national elections, how other states made big changes, what went right in other states, and why didn’t it go right in Oregon.

See Ed Diehl’s website, EdDiehl.com for more about Ed and news and information. Follow Ed on X (formerly Twitter), @Real_EdDiehl

We also discuss the sole remaining (as of November 21) undecided house seat—Tracy Cramer’s in HD22—from Oregon’s elections. A race that will decide whether democrats get a super majority in Oregon’s house. Also, possible election fraud, and what about Oregon’s voter rolls? And what are we likely to see out of a democrat dual super majority.

And then in a future Part II, Ed will come back—likely after the holidays—to discuss changes and new directions to turn Oregon—yes, Oregon—red.

Original Air Dates: March 19th & 20th, 2022 | Don Powers

This Week – Elections & Election Theft, Part 2

We welcome back Don Powers, who is part of a team looking at voter fraud and election theft around the country — and what is happening right here in Oregon. Don Powers is the co-chair of election integrity for the Oregon Republican Party (ORP). Odd, though, that the ORP doesn’t believe election theft happened in 2020 and doesn’t want candidates talking about it as an issue, as we talked about last week.

Read the article from John Solomon’s Just the News: Ballot Bombshells: 20 examples exposing fraud, illegalities and irregularities in 2020 election

This week, we talk more details about what Don’s team has uncovered in other states. Clear examples of voter fraud. Clear and proven examples of election theft. In Wisconsin. In Georgia. In Arizona. We hear about “missing data”. Ballot harvesting. Mules. And so much more.

And, most importantly, what’s the remedy? Decertify? What would that mean? Take a listen to find out.

Yes, Oregon, There Really Is Election Theft

Are the examples of election theft in other states happening here in Oregon? Absolutely.

When it comes to voter fraud and election theft, I think this, from John Solomon, really nails it: “At this point, there is no downside to cheating in Wisconsin [Or any state, I might add], when you have a governor that is shutting down a lot of the things that we — as Republicans and Democrats — have thought would make a fair and transparent election,”

No downside to cheating.

Think of where that leads.

Original Air Dates: March 12th & 13th, 2022 | Guests: Marc Thielman & Don Powers

This Week – Elections & Election Theft

Yes, there really was election theft in 2020. Yes, the election was stolen. The evidence is becoming overwhelming. So why is the Oregon Republican Party denying it? Why are they telling candidates not to discuss it?

We talk with now former superintendent of the Alsea School District, Marc Thielman, who stepped down to focus full time on his race for governor. Naturally, the left wing Democrat-Herald immediately launched a smear campaign against him.

Obviously they don’t want him in the race. What are they afraid of?

Evil in the Oregon Republican Party?

We also talk with Thielman about the recent events in the ORP, the Oregon Republican Party. Which, once again, is in disarray. And in an election year when Republicans should be winning going away.

Read Dallas Heard’s resignation letter, resigning as chairman of the ORP

Yes, there was cheating in 2020’s election

Then we talk with Don Powers about election theft and voter fraud in 2020’s elections. Yes, there are clear examples of fraud and election theft. What will it take to convince people that it really did happen?

People like the ORP.

Despite Don Powers being the Co-Chair of Election Integrity at the ORP, the official position of the ORP is that it didn’t happen and that candidates shouldn’t talk about it.

Read the explosive article from John Solomon’s Just the News: Ballot Bombshells: 20 examples exposing fraud, illegalities and irregularities in 2020 election

Show note: There is SO much to talk about with election theft, that we will be having Don on for the whole hour next week.

Show Summary: Oregon Democrats like democracy — until they don’t get their way. At which point they go full-blown Socialist and want to fine, or even jail, their political opponents. It’s time to fight back against the tyranny of one-party rule in Salem.

Original Air Dates: Feb 29 & Mar 1, 2020 | Kevin Hoar, ORP Communications Director

This Week: Politics isn’t easy and sometimes causes people to become warriors when they would rather be negotiators.  But in Oregon’s case, it is impossible to negotiate with the Oregon Democrat super-majority which has decided Republicans have no rights. To object, complain, or offer suggestions.

Oregon Democrats: Full-Blown Socialism

The reality is, elected Democrats don’t want Republican input. They just want Republican bodies in the House or Senate so the Oregon Democrats can pass whatever they want.

So the Republicans, unwelcome and unnecessary (other than being a warm body) have taken the only step left to them: to walk out and deny Democrats a quorum.

Now, in return, Oregon Democrats have taken the extreme step to issue subpoenas to demand that Republicans return.

Oregon Republicans Doing their Job

Democrats are now trying to claim Republicans aren’t “doing their job.” But Republicans are doing their job. Because they were elected to represent their constituents, who are opposed to cap and trade. It is not the Republican’s job to let Democrats pass whatever they want.

The rights the minority party, Oregon’s Republicans, are exercising is to use any legal means possible, to stay true to their oath in office to stand up for their constituents.  It is the Republicans’ job to represent those who vote them in—and protect them against a Democrat agenda that will change Oregon for decades.

This is what the tyranny of the majority looks like. Imagine the damage they will do if they get any more power. It must stop.

The ORP: Oregon Republican Party

That’s why our show this week is so very important with so much at stake.  This week our guest is Kevin Hoar, Communications Director of the ORP.  The show comes on the heels of Thursday night’s vote for the House Democrats to issue subpoenas’ to drag the House Republicans back to session.

And the elected Oregon Democrats repeatedly demonstrated in this session they cannot be trusted with power. Republicans need to remove them from office.

It’s time to come forward, step up, and get involved.  It’s not enough to just be a part of Timber Unity. So it’s time to gear up and take action. There is only one party now that is standing up for rural Oregonians. There is only one party standing up for everyday Oregonians. Or for Oregonians’ businesses. And it’s most definitely not the Democrats.

Fight Back. Get Involved

It is time to end one-party rule in Oregon. To do that, Republicans need to take back at least enough seats to break the super-majority. Even better, take back at least one of the chambers, perhaps even both. And you can help.

We’ll introduce you to the Oregon Republican Party, what they do. We talk about how to get involved. How you can get involved in campaigns, support the Republican efforts. Or even run for office yourself. And we also talk about some of what’s going on in the background, of Democrats actions, that is going under reported.

Because this is the year for people to get engaged. And fight back and stand up against the Democrat agenda of socialism and tyranny as they try to politically strangle good people into saying nothing.

This Week:  This year has seen some lows and some highs. Mostly, the lows are here in Oregon. Or at least it feels that way some times. We’re the kids in the Christmas Carol looking out the window at other kids having fun in the snow. But we can’t go out and play with the other kids. And of course, there’s that carbon tax that might be coming—which will really handicap Oregon’s businesses and farmers—if Oregon’s Republicans can’t get their act together.

But let’s not be Scrooge here. There have been a lot of good things that happened this year. And it’s with that in mind that we bring you this week’s show.

Christmas Time

It being the Christmas Season, we’re taking a lighter approach to this week’s show. Sure, there’ll be some politics but we won’t be focusing on things we need to warn you about. (See pretty much the entire rest of the year for that.)

Instead, we want to bring you two authors and frequent guests of I Spy Radio, who have terrific new books out that would be perfect Christmas gifts this year. (Plus, you can find other great books for gifts in our store page.)

Burgess Owens: Why I Stand

First up, we talk with Burgess Owens, former NFL superstar, about his latest book, Why I Stand. This is a terrific book just in time for the holidays about a man who came up from the Deep South and is committed to standing up for the Black community that has been duped by its leader. It is filled with inspiration about the core beliefs that make America great, filled with insights from a lifetime of seeing too many people fall into the trap of socialist mindsets. This is a great gift to give yourself or the younger generation in your life to wake up from the growing lure of socialism.

Scott McEwen

We also talk with Scott McEwen, co-author of the NY Times bestselling American Sniper., about some of the feel-good stories this year, like Trump’s victory to get Kavanaugh appointed, expanding the Republicans’ lead in the Senate (which will make more Kavanaughs possible), and even the Clinton’s discounted “stadium tour.” Could 2019 be the year of the Clintons finally facing justice?

Scott has two new books out (in addition to his other seven books): City of Death: Humanitarian Warriors in the Battle for Mosul, which Scott co-wrote with Ephraim Mattos, and Camp ValorCity of Death, which would be an excellent book for anyone who likes real-life military stories as you’re put right there on the scene with one of the Free Burma Rangers as they helped provide humanitarian relief for the fight to retake Mosul from ISIS. It would also be an excellent book for any vets in your life — or buy a few copies to take to your local VFW.

Camp Valor is intended for teens and young adults but, let’s face it, it’s great fun for adults too. It’s about a troubled youth who’s given a chance to redeem himself if he agrees to join a secret training camp for teenage government agents. Except America’s enemies find out about it and they find themselves in a real battle for their lives.

Tune in this week for a bit of a lighter show than our usual fare. We’ll need the break as we all rest, then gear up for 2019.

Original Air Dates: Nov. 17 & 18, 2018 |  Jayne Carroll & Sam Carpenter

This Week:  There’s the famous 1969 TV commercial, where a boy asks Mr. Owl, “How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?” You know the answer. One… two… three.

How many losses, how many lickings, will it take before the Oregon Republican Party makes the changes needed to finally win in Oregon?

It’s been 30 years (thirty!) since the last time Republicans won. 2018 was no different. Oregon Republicans lost the governor’s race again. But Knute Buehler’s race hurt down-ballot races as well. Oregon Republicans lost so badly to the Democrats that the Democrats have a super-majority in both the Oregon house and senate.

How many more losses will it take before something changes? That’s what we’d like to know.

Oregon Republicans: Aftermath of 2018 Midterms

On last week’s I Spy Radio Show, we talked about some bright spots in the 2018 midterms. Namely, some 2nd Amendment ballot initiatives that passed in eight counties. Eight. But we also talked about how Knute Buehler, the Republican candidate for governor, kept shooting himself in the foot by turning his back on his Republican base.

But we didn’t talk about the party itself.  That’s this week.

Fixing the Oregon Republican Party

Oregon Republicans - after huge 2018 losses, can they finally turn their luck around?
Oregon Republicans. The Charlie Brown of Republican politics?

Maybe “fixing the Oregon Republicans” is the wrong way to put it (given the 2018 results, they’re already pretty neutered). But something has to be done.

What has happened to Oregon’s Republican party that led to the smacking we saw it take this last election?  Does nothing need to change? If nothing needs changed, then why do R’s keep losing? If something needs to change, then what needs fixed to turn Republicans into winners?

Without asking those question we can’t move forward. Clearly, something needs to change because it’s blatantly obvious that how the party has always handled its business is just not working anymore. It’s not just a matter of “get better candidates.”

Make Oregon Republicans Successful Again

So we call upon two people who have different insights from two different perspectives.  One who has observed and reported on politics but has also managed campaigns and ballot initiatives.  And the other who has been a candidate and saw the dysfunction up close and personal—not only as a candidate but as a businessman who was a highly successful business  consultant, specializing in turning around failing businesses.

Jayne Carroll: A Political Observer’s View

Jayne Carroll kicks off the show. We talk about Knute, his strategy to woo Democrats, what we can expect from two years of Democrat stranglehold, and the unfair and confusing ballot measures that have led to some people still thinking that “at least the grocery tax was defeated.” (No. It wasn’t.) Tune in to where the 2018 ballot measures are leading us and her thoughts on how the Oregon Republicans can start making inroads into the heart of the Blue Swamp, Portland and Eugene.

Sam Carpenter: Candidate & Businessman’s Solutions

Then we turn to gubernatorial candidate Sam Carpenter, who discusses what happened during the primary. You may be surprised (shocked) at the supports the Oregon Republicans offer to candidates. Or doesn’t.

We also ask him if he was a business turnaround consultant coming in to the ORP to fix its problems what would he do. It turns out, not only does he give specific examples of what needs to be fixed, Sam has decided to put action to his words and has announced he’ll be running for the Chair of the ORP.  Leadership means everything and Sam wants to apply his skills of correcting an organization that continues its downward spiral that he wants to stop.

Are You Satisfied with the Oregon Republicans?

Are you satisfied with the Oregon Republican Party? Do we keep doing what we’ve been doing? Or is it time for something to change? Tune in to hear our guests to hear their suggested fixes — and then let us know what you think needs to happen to Make Oregon Red Again.
