A February 2022 OPB Poll Shows Strong Preference for Republicans and Conservatives
By Dr. Mark Anderson, MBA, DBA (ABD)
There was a poll by OPB back in February 2022 that was đŻđ°đ” good for democrats. Especially so given that it was done by OPB and then sat on for over a month.
Here are the highlights.
In a generic ballot of Republican vs Democrat for governor, Republicans win 47% to 29% (with a very large undecided at 23%). That’s a win by nearly 20 pointsâwell outside the margin of error. But, interestingly, when you add an Independent to the mix, Republicans still win â and more people move away from Dem to Independent: Republican = 26% (a 3% shift), Democrat = 16% (a 13% shift), and Independent = 21%. Still a large pool of undecided (37%) when deciding among three candidates but the support for a Democrat and Republican candidates drop across the board but far more from a Democrat candidate than a Republican one. Four times as much, in fact.
This is why Democrats are both furious at and fearful of Betsy Johnson, who is a Democrat but running as an “independent.” Betsy splits the vote and draws far more from the Democrat candidate than from the Republican and not enough to give either the Democrat or the “Independent” candidate a win. She virtually assures a Republican win.
But wait, it gets worse for Democrats
On social issues, the poll shows a very strong preference for a conservative: a 27% preference (very liberal/somewhat liberal, combined) for liberal vs nearly double support, 46% (very conservative/somewhat conservative, combined) for conservative. All those woke social issues Democrats have attempted to shove down the public’s throats is biting them in the backside.
Taxes and economy are always big issues and decisions points in every race. And there is even more support for conservative over liberal on economics, only 22% (very liberal/somewhat liberal, combined) for liberal, and a majority 51% for conservative (very conservative/somewhat conservative, combined).
Also, Oregonians appear to be done with the establishment and career (“experienced”) politicians. When asked if they prefer someone with experience in elected office vs an outsider, 47% preferred an outsider to only 27% preferring a politician with experience in office. That is a huge shift for Oregonian voters, which, like the rest of the West Coast, for decades has tended to prefer candidates with at least some elected experience. That bodes very well for candidates like Marc Thielman for Oregon Governor and Bridget Barton for Oregon.
Finally, it is exceptionally interesting that despite overwhelming Leftist media in Oregon, especially the Oregonian, Willamette Week, and OPB itself, people are seeing through the Leftist lies. When asked about the “seriousness” of right-wing extremism and left-wing extremism, more people saw left-wing extremism as very serious/somewhat serious, 69% (combined), vs right-wing extremism as very serious/somewhat serious, 56% (combined).
Show Summary: When it comes to slaying the dragons in lifeâwhether metaphorical or the governmental kindsâwe all like to see the good guys win. This week on I Spy Radio, we follow two stories about just that. Dr. Tim Ball who just won a major court, a libel lawsuit because he dared to be skeptical about Global Warming. Plus former Navy pilot and Blue Angels commander, Greg Wooldridge. Oregon’s newest Republican candidate for governor. Good guys winning! Can Oregon learn from these? Can Oregon win again?
Air Dates: March 3 & 4, 2018 | Dr. Tim Ball & Capt. Greg Wooldridge
On last weekâs show we discussed Oregonâs ongoing health care debacle, including one of Oregon’s largest Coordinated Care Organizations was forced to close its doors as it faced a $100 million loss for 2018. This shouldn’t be a surprise, since the bills that created Oregon’s Health Authority and Coordinated Care Organizations were designed to create universal health care. In other words, socialized medicine.
(This should not have been hard for the Republicans who voted for these bills to figure out. Especially given that the very first paragraph said so. See the graphic at the right.)
Our predictions from years ago have sadly come true as we see the Democrat majority in Oregonâs legislature continue to push for a single payer system for health care (which will raise taxes), Cap and Trade (which will raise taxes), divorce us from Trumpâs tax cuts (which will raise taxes), and increase gun control policies (which will raise taxes). Without more Republican legislators, Oregonians are left powerless to curb the Democrats’ desire to run our lives and spend our money.
It is critical that we replace Democrat Governor, Kate Brown, before she spends us into California-level oblivion. Many Oregonians are beginning to lose hope of ever shaking the Democrats from the halls of power before it’s too late.
This week we’re happy to say there’s hope. Because as you’ll hear, the Good Guys can and do win.
Good Guys do Win
First up, we talk with Dr. Tim Ball, a retired professor who has been battling three libel lawsuits against him, all by the same lawyer who is representing three clients with very deep pockets. He and his wife were forced to exhaust their savings as they fought to protect their right to free speech in anti-free-speech Canadaâsimply because he dared to be a skeptic of Global Warming.
But Dr. Ball just got some outstanding news on one of the lawsuits against him. The Left has sought to sue him ito silence, intimidate him, and make an example of him as a warning to others who would dare to speak up and expose the bad science behind such things as the Michael Mann’s famous âhockey stickâ chart, that has become the poster child of the Global Warming movement. Now, after seven years, the court dismissed the case in favor of Dr. Ball.
But there is some more good news too. Tune in to hear the story not only about his recent victory but how another development could have global implications and slay one of the biggest dragons of the Global Warming movement.
See? The good guys do win.
Can Oregon Learn to Win Again?
Next up, we talk to a new candidate for governor of Oregon, retired Navy officer and three-time Commander of the Blue Angelsâ Captain Greg Wooldridge. Capt. Wooldridge is one of those rare Americans who has excelled in a field that is the fewest of the few: a Blue Angels pilot and Commander.
The training and talents needed to lead the very bestâwhich demands extreme precision and high efficiency from everyone involvedârequires a unique set of skills that Capt. Greg Wooldridge used to not only lead the Blue Angels but how he turned around a failing Naval bases into one of the premier bases in the world. Youâll hear how the training and leadership needed for precision flying is not just about the pilot but the entire team, ground crew, suppliers, and so many others who have to come together to put the planes in the air.
Tune in to hear why Capt. Wooldridge decided to run. You’ll how all those years of work and leading troops at the highest levels, Greg Wooldridge can bring a winning mindset to lead Oregon. You’ll hear why and how his leadership skills are desperately needed to turn Oregon around. And if he gets the chance, he can win in November and make all of us âand Oregonâwinners again.
Since these are two very different guests/topics, we’re splitting the podcast into Tim’s and Greg’s segments. Or you can listen to the whole enchilada.

Show Summary: Part II in our continuing series of shows on Hillary Clinton â doing the work that the mainstream media refuses to do: look at her actions. In this episode, we look at her immigration policies and positions and compare those to Donald Trump. They are vastly different. So much for the “Never Trump” and their belief Hillary and Trump are one and the same. Then we will check in with bestselling author, Scott McEwen, on more Hillary actions: her emails that prove she was running the State Department as pay for play, running guns to Syrian (i.e., arming ISIS), and what about those Clinton hit squads?

As a continuation of our look into Hillaryâs actions versus her words, we found this week that the amount of stories on her were so overwhelming it was almost difficult to track all of her continuing scandals and new problems.
One of the more impressive about-faces, so typical of lifetime politician, was her ânewâ position on TPP. For someone who had helped craft the draconian legislation she suddenly turns about face and is now against its implementation. This is only after Trump put the media spotlight on the job bleed off that would take place if it were ever implemented. Her words were very hollow.
Hillary Clinton’s Reckless Immigration Policies
The same occurs with her words on immigration. Compared to her words in 2003 on immigration, she was more of an immigration hawk than Ted Cruz to where she is today itâs the US doesnât need borders. Her flip flops on this issue have been so bad that in 2015 the NY Post to wrote this âThe question isnât whether she believed what she said before, or even whether she believes what sheâs saying now. Itâs whether she really believes anything at all.â (Hillary Clintonâs flip-flops on immigration)
So, on this weekâs show we do a compare and contrast of Hillaryâs actions versus her words. To kick off the show Mark Anderson will walk you through Hillaryâs immigration plans  and how they compare to Trumpâs. Then we talk with Scott McEwen, and delve into the recent e-mails that disclose so much of Hillaryâs actions. We even talk about the rumored hit squad and the 50 deaths of Hillaryâs inner circle of who at one time were close to her.
On Breitbart one of their opinion people has written that âHillaryâs hacked emails may have led to the discovery and murder of Libyan Ambassador Chris Stevens
Wikilieaksâ founder, Julian Assange in an interview with DemocracyNow, says they have released more than 1,700 emails of Hillaryâs just about Libya alone. Including emails that discuss âweapons flows going over to Syria, being pushed by Hillary Clinton, into jihadists within Syria, including ISIS, thatâs there in those emails.â
Cash flowed to Clinton Foundation Amid Russian Uranium Deal (NY Times, April 2015). From the NYT article: âA person with knowledge of the Clinton Foundationâs fund-raising operation, who requested anonymity to speak candidly about it, said that for many people, the hope is that money will in fact buy influence: ‘Why do you think they are doing it â because they love them?’â
Another group, Lafarge, with ties to Hillary, supported ISIS by paying âtaxâ to ISIS in exchange for ISIS âallowingâ them to operate a cement plant and also bought oil from ISIS
Judging from my Twitter feed, most people equated Ted Cruzâs speech at the Republican National Convention to setting off his political suicide vest on stage. Leading up to the speech, pundits everywhere reminded people that at the end of the bitter 1976 campaign, Reagan gave a brilliant speech, one of his best of all time â but in the end, he endorsed Ford.
But it wasnât just his words. It was Reaganâs selflessness; his greatness, his devotion, his call to duty and putting country first that rang so true in the hearts and minds of the delegates â and made him the favorite for 1980.
Show Summary: It’s Memorial Day Weekend! Did you know this national holiday was anything but unifying when it first began as “Decoration Day?” We get the details, the history of Memorial Day, and some fun stories. Speaking of unifying, the NY Conservative Party, which, as you can imagine had a lot of Cruz supporters. So how did they come around to endorsing Donald Trump for president? Tune in Saturday or Sunday to hear!
Air Dates: May 27 & 28, 2016 | Mike Long & Dr. Bonner Cohen
This weekend is Memorial Day. While Americans unite in our thanks to our fallen heroes, it turns out that Memorial Day didn’t start out as unifying at all.
In America today, it seems as if weâre constantly divided, perhaps because we are in a constant state of re-election and campaigning. It used to be that when people got elected, weâd forget about politics for a couple years and expect them to just go in and do their jobs. But it’s not that way anymore. Everything is political because so much is tied to big government, whether it’s business or environmental or health care or what have you.
So with this constant state of campaigningâincluding our current Presidentâs messaging that so often tied to something politicalâissues and people can get things ramped up and things can turn ugly during a primary season.
With the primaries basically over, and as the angry-emotional dust settles, we now have to get down to the business of unifying our party and our country. And so I Spy searches for the answers and examples of how that happens.
Our first guest, Michael Long, Chairman of the New York Conservative Party, gives us the first set of answers regarding how as a party they co-endorsed, with the Republican Party, Trump as their candidate. How did this happen? Their party had Cruz supporters, but now they came out “overwhelmingly” to support the Trump endorsement. Listen to hear how that happened and find out his thoughts of what he expects a Trump Presidency to look like and how it could be conservative even if Trump is not the conservative they’d likeâand how it will benefit all America.
Then we turn to scholar Dr. Bonner Cohen to take us through the founding and origination of Memorial Day. We discuss how divided our country was right after the Civil War when Memorial Day was first called “Declaration Day” for the fallen Union soldiers. Listen to hear Dr. Cohen walk us through the history of Memorial Day, some fascinating stories surrounding Memorial Day, and how itâs become a holiday that unites all Americans.
Show Summary: We’ve always thought that here in America that we have Freedom of Speech and Freedom of the Press. Well, thanks to the Obama administration, we’ve seen that’s not the case. Media Censorship: it’s not just Obama anymore. It’s Conservatives too. One journalist, shares his experience of being blackballed when he bucked the elites’ narrative.
Air Dates: May 7 & 8, 2016 | John Rosenthal
Itâs not always big government we investigate. Sometimes itâs “big environment” and this week, it’s “big media.” We talk with author and political analyst, John Rosenthal, who covers European and transatlantic issues but has also extensively covered the Syrian civil war. John found out that if you donât write what is the âapproved narrativeââyou donât get published. And not just that, but they’ll try to destroy your reputation for daring to report the real news.
As Americans, weâve always felt that we have freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Well thatâs not exactly true.
After listening to Johnâs story and what happened with his relationship with the National Review, a “conservative” magazine, we find that censorship is alive and wellâand it’s coming from both sides of the media elites.
What’s especially shocking is not that it’s conservative sources doing this. Tune in to hear how conservatives conspired with the Obama administration to create a false narrative in Syria.
And it continues. This week, establishment news sources like Bill Kristol of the Weekly Standard find themselves on the outside of the primary process and are actively attacking the presumptive nominee. These are the same elite who demanded Trump sign a loyalty oath but now they’re attacking him? What’s their motivation or fear? Is it that the media elite are losing their power?
We discuss this with John. But, even more chilling, are his accounts of how the news elites and the administration collude to use stories to create a political narrativeâa narrative that has had deadly results. Just think about this: how many policies have we seen that are bad for America, but end up being good for the elite in power?
The Republican Presidential Race is narrowing to the finish line but will it mean the destruction of the party? Is it the “Trump effect” or is this a split needing to happen? And are conservatives missing a golden opportunity?
Air Dates: Mar. 5 & 6, 2016 | Jayne Carroll & Wayne Allyn Root
We all know that politics is messy and have seen devious tricks played by many campaigns over the years. (Does the âleakâ of John McCain allegedly having an affair by the Bush campaign bring back memories?) But now itâs some of the party members who are getting into the fray: from party leaders and elected officials alike attacking and trying to destroy a fellow teammate to individual voters who say they will sit out voting in the general if their candidate doesnât win the nominationâeven eviscerating supporters of other candidates in sometimes vicious and insulting ways.
Except politics is a team sport. Itâs not an individual war, itâs a team effort. A team sport that must beat the Democrats’ team and their quarterback, whether it’s Hillary or Bernie.
Republican Party Insiders’ War
Mitt Romney is the latest prime example of a party leader to step in to try to stop Trump. Heâs not just attacking Trump but heâs also insulting the people who support Trump. Undeniably, Trump is pulling people into the party, many of whom are first-time or rare voters. Donald Trump is no Reagan, not by any means, but Republicans and especially conservatives, are too busy trading insults that we’re hurting our own team.
Tune in to find out how conservatives are missing an incredible, strategic opportunity this election cycle to grow and expand not just the party but the conservative message. And to do so in a way that could expand the party for years to come.
Our guest this week is Jayne Carroll, a Cruz supporter, is one of the few people who takes herself out of the picture and looks at the race objectively. Listen to hear her take on both Cruz and Trump, and how the team is being effectual or not.
Then we have Wayne Allyn Root, a Trump supporter, who discusses Trumpâs campaign and he believes Trump will bring to the Presidency.
What’s your analysis? And what are your thoughts on re-uniting the party to get Trump supporters to support Cruz as the eventual nominee or vice versa? Let us know in the comments section below.

Paddy Power, the UK gambling company, paid off the bets for a Trump nomination. “Since 1988 the candidate to clean up on Super Tuesday has always gone onto win their party’s nomination,” company spokesman Paddy Power said in a press release. “Good news for Paddy Power punters, if you backed The Donald, come and get your cash â we’re paying out. Democrats to Clinton: Donât laugh off the Trump threat: âItâs time to stop pointing and laughing at the Republican primary.
