This week on I Spy, we talk with author and economist Dr. Gerard Lameiro to analyze the underlying philosophies and values on display in Obama’s State of the Union address.

For example, most of I Spy listeners know that the free-market system is superior to socialism but why is it so superior? What makes it more successful from both an economic and philosophical standpoint? Within hours of Governor John Kitzhaber’s resignation, the FBI issued a subpoena, seeking records from multiple state agencies and 15 individuals. But this is a sitting public official, duly elected by the people of Oregon so what does it take for the FBI to suddenly get involved in the first place? And why didn’t this all happen before the election? We ask an FBI agent.

With the Governor’s attempt to destroy thousands of e-mails, the FBI issued a subpoena just hours after he resigned. The subpoena requests a massive amount of information and documents from 15 individuals and multiple state agencies as a part of their investigation, so this week we go in depth with a former FBI agent to understand not only the process the FBI goes through to obtain a subpoena in the first place but how they build their case and just how far this will go.

Our guest this week is attorney Chris Mazzella, former FBI agent and Inspector General with Dade-Miami County who has a depth of experience prosecuting racketeering and investigating public corruption. We get an inside look at the process of discovery, the relationships the FBI will dig into, and why associates of the former governor and Cylvia Hayes should be worried.

Even though American Sniper didn’t get the Oscar nod that its fans hoped it would, it was a tremendous success with the people who truly mattered: the American public. And we can guarantee that the 19 medals and awards that Chris Kyle earned meant far more to him than any silly gold statuette. With the incredible success of American Sniper at the box office, we check back in this week with Scott McEwen, Chris’s co-author, to talk about the film and he does not disappoint. We get his—quite literally—behind the scenes insights into the film, his thoughts on the Oscars and his reflections on Chris Kyle, the man and the hero.

We’ll talk about the cultural divide happening now in America and whether this is evidence of that divide — and whether it’s indicative of things to come.

Most I Spy listeners are familiar with the Islamic ideology of taqiya, which makes it permissible to lie to non-believers. But we’ll also talk about the third pillar of Iran’s doctrine of hate, najis. Despite Obama’s promise to have the “most transparent administration in history,” we hear about violations of Freedom of Information Act requests all the time. But why does no one ever get punished? The answer may surprise you.

Nixon was forced from office after 18 minutes of tape went missing but in today’s administration hundreds of thousands of documents go missing. Lois Lerner deletes her email. Hillary uses a private server. Bureaucrats are so unafraid of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests that they routinely ignore them or redact them to the point of meaninglessness out of sheer spite. When it comes to Obama’s laughable claim to be the most transparent administration in history, there’s a fundamental question: “Why does is no one ever punished?” We get some answers with Shannon Goessling of the Southeastern Legal Foundation.

It never ceases to amaze that the so-called “smart people” in the room, our elected officials like Sen. Ron Wyden, want to do everything except the obvious.

But with all this talk about forcing the feds to give control of state lands to the states, we’re hearing concerns from listeners who want to know more about what, exactly, this would look like.
